What To Expect

What To Expect

Most people arrive not quite knowing what they have let themselves in for.

That is completely fine. By the time you leave your first appointment, you will wonder what took you so long.

Here is exactly what happens.

The Building

In person sessions take place at Mexborough Business Centre — a handsome Victorian building that has been standing since long before anyone thought to worry about anything.

Mexborough Business Centre,
College Road
Mexborough
S64 9JP

Centrally located in South Yorkshire — approximately 30 minutes from Sheffield and easily reached from Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley. Free parking on site and on the street outside.

Mexborough Business Centre - Alexandra Hypnotherapy

Arriving - Before 5pm

Park in the free car park or on the street outside. Enter the building through the main entrance and follow the signs to reception, which is on your right as you walk in.

Go to the reception counter and let them know you are here for Alexandra. Do not try to find me in the building — I will always come down to greet you.

Take a seat. I will be with you shortly.

Arriving - After 5pm

The front doors are locked after 5pm and reception will have gone home. Please do not stand on the pavement wondering what to do.

When you arrive, stay in your vehicle and send me a text on the number you will have been given, with your parking location — car park or street — and the make, model and colour of your car.

I will either come to find you directly or appear at the entrance marked BOYS — the brick porch visible from the car park. Yes, it really does say that. It is a Victorian building. I will let you in and we will go up together.

The Office

My office is on the third floor — three flights of stairs. There is no lift, so please let me know in advance if mobility is a concern and we will make alternative arrangements or move your sessions to Zoom.

The room itself tends to surprise people. It is large, light and south-facing, with deep sapphire blue walls and tall windows looking out over open green fields. There is a very comfortable armchair waiting for you.

It does not feel clinical. It does not feel like a waiting room. It feels like somewhere something real is about to happen — because it is.

The Mapping Session - Your First Appointment

Your first appointment is a Mapping Session. This is not a sales pitch and it is not small talk.

It is a focused conversation — about what has brought you here, what you think the problem is, and how you want to feel instead. I will ask about your history, your background, your family, your experiences — not intrusively, but specifically. I am building a picture of how you were formed and where the pattern began.

I take notes. I ask questions. I listen carefully to the words you use.

It is lighter than most people expect. Almost everyone leaves feeling heard in a way they have not been before — and clearer about what is actually going on than when they arrived.

At the end I will invite your questions — and I will answer all of them honestly. Then I will make my recommendation for the programme I believe is right for you.

If we are a good fit and you are ready to proceed, we will agree your programme, sort payment, and book your appointments before you leave. You will not go home with a vague plan and a follow-up email. Everything is confirmed in the room.

What Actually Happens In A Session

This is the question everyone wants answered and nobody quite knows how to ask.

You sit in the chair. You close your eyes. That is the extent of the drama.

What follows is not sleep, not unconsciousness, and not loss of control. It is more like a guided mental walk — a structured process where I direct your attention to specific feelings and images that already exist in your own mind, and we follow them to their source.

You are awake throughout. You can speak, answer questions, and stop at any point. I have no control over you — nobody does hypnotherapy by force and nobody ever has. What I do have is twelve years of knowing exactly where to look and what to do when we get there.

Before we begin I will explain the process clearly and check that you can visualise — I will ask you to picture an apple and tell me its colour, then a car, then a dog. Simple things. From there we move into the session itself.

Sessions last one hour. You will not feel groggy afterwards. You can drive home. You can go back to work. You can carry on with your day entirely normally.

What It Feels Like

Most people experience a range of things during a session — a sense of lightness, occasional emotion, sometimes a mild tiredness afterwards. Some people notice change immediately. Others find it settles in over a couple of days, like something has quietly shifted without making a fuss about it.

Everyone who follows the process experiences change. That is not a marketing claim — it is the result of working at the level where the pattern was actually formed, rather than trying to talk it out of existence from the surface.

The Questions Everyone Asks

Will I lose control? No. You are aware, present and in charge throughout.

Will I remember it afterwards? Yes. This is not the kind of hypnosis where you wake up with no idea what happened.

What if I can’t be hypnotised? Before we begin I will check that you can follow the process. If for any reason it is not the right approach for you, I will tell you honestly — I would rather do that than take your money for something that will not work.

Will it last? Yes. This is not symptom management — it is working at the root. When the structure changes, the pattern no longer has anything to run on.

Will you make me cluck like a chicken? I will not. I have never asked anyone to cluck like a chicken and I do not intend to start. That is stage hypnosis — entertainment built on volunteers who are already performing. This is something else entirely.

Sessions On Zoom

Everything above applies equally to Zoom sessions — the process, the results, the duration, all of it.

You will need a quiet private space where you will not be interrupted, a reliable internet connection, and a comfortable chair. That is all.

Zoom is the primary way I work and in many respects it is the more efficient format. There is no travel, no waiting room. We begin when we begin.

You Are Not The Exception

Every person who has sat in that chair — or appeared on that screen — arrived wondering whether they would be the one it did not work for.

None of them were.

If you are ready to find out what changes when the pattern does, the next step is straightforward.

Forty minutes. £97. The clearest picture of yourself you have ever had.
